Delhi university popularly known as DU is an esteemed university of north India. It was established -which offer various graduates and post-graduate courses. In the year 1933, the Delhi University campus was shifted to the Viceregal Lodge Estate which became its permanent residence. Even today the main campus of the Delhi University, which includes the central administrative offices, examination offices and the sports complex, is situated at the Viceregal Lodge Estate.

It has received various prestigious awards. Its science departments namely Chemistry, Geology, Zoology, Sociology and History in Arts have been awarded the status of the Centres of Advanced Studies.

Many of University departments are receiving grants under the Special Assistance Programme of the UGC. Departments like Germanic, Hindi, Persian, Geography, Music, East Asian Studies, Anthropology, Mathematics etc are receiving grants under DRS. English, Buddhist Studies, Social Work Departments are getting grants under AISHSS. The University today run as many as 15 big libraries apart from libraries in colleges which is itself huge.
