* Selecting The Wrong Style Scooter

Electric scooters basically come in 3 styles. The classic "push scooter" style, seated electric scooters, and the "Euro" style. Actually, a 4th style would be electric bikes that resemble electric scooters. However, we shall focus on the first 3 styles.

Typically, consumers will forget what purposes and uses they intend for the scooter. For example, if you intend to use an electric scooter to jump ramps and perform other tricks, you need to make sure your scooter has enough power.

Also, if your intention is to run errands on your scooter, you need to make sure the scooter has a seat, and some storage areas. To run errands of any distance, the scooter must be able to run continuously on one battery charge for an adequate length of time.

* Selecting The Wrong Size Electric Scooter

It is important that your model should easily handle your weight and top speed requirements. For example, if your child weighs 100 lbs, and the scooter you have chosen has a weight capacity of 120 lbs, your child will "outgrow" that scooter fairly quickly.

It might be a good idea to consider a scooter with a higher weight capacity. The thing to keep in mind, though, is the scooter with the higher weight capacity might go too fast for the child to feel comfortable.

It is a good idea to "test drive" the electric scooter you are considering, whenever possible.

* Buying An Electric Scooter From A Largely Unknown Company

If the scooter you buy comes from an unknown company, you run the risk of them not being an authorized dealer. Consequently, you run the risk of not getting a legitimate warranty.

Make sure that your model scooter also has plenty of available replacement parts.

Finally, your model should have at least a 90 day warranty on the scooter, and at least a 6 month warranty on the battery pack.
