strike 3, Youre Out

Strike 3, Youre Out, arent the only sounds you hear rumbling around this island anymore. Known as the Mecca for upcoming professional baseball players, the Dominican Republic has rapidly become one of the hottest travel destinations in the world. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean on the north and the Caribbean Sea to the south, the Dominican Republic is an incredible island paradise in the heart of the Caribbean. The country shares a border with Haiti on the second largest island in the area, Hispaniola. Surrounded by nearly 250 miles of coastline on the north, east and south, the Dominican Republics beaches are known worldwide for pristine white sand beaches that are lapped by the warm blue waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

My first visit to this tropical paradise was for a mini high school reunion. A child hood buddy of mine who is now a Major League Baseball Scout invited me down for a weekend; after making a few phone calls, I was able to round up a few more friends for the trip. The instructions we were given by the host were: bring your golf clubs, bathing suite, sun tan lotion and your appetite. I admit that I was somewhat ignorant and uninformed about the island, when I thought of the Dominican Republic; the first images that popped into my head were baseball players and fat cigars. However the images and ignorance that made up my mental notes melted away the minute I stepped off the plane and headed towards our resort.

This is one of the most beautiful places that you could ever ask to go. The resort I stayed at was amazing not to mention all inclusive, I gained a few pounds The food was indescribable, the service and the people were awesome. Everything you need is right there on the resort and you only have to leave to go on your excursions. The beaches and the water looked as if they were straight from a post card and honestly, a postcard or picture wouldnt do these beaches justice. Every vacation destination has that one beach you need to see; the Dominican Republic has that one 250 mile beach you need to see. Here is my recommendation of beaches to go see, ALL OF THEM. from Santo Domingo, La Romana, Barahona/Pedernales, Samana, Montecristi, Puerto Plata and of course Punta Cana. I have never been to an island where all of the beaches have something different to offer, it was like a Crayola box of blues. The island is not shy with activities they offer to singles, couples or families either. Anything from jet skiing, horseback riding on the beach, swimming with dolphins, ecological parks, para-sailing and some of the most amazing golf courses you will ever see.

The Dominican Republic is a vacation destination that you need to visit; alone, with friends or even better, with your family. From the great weather, food, beaches, sites, activities and the Latin sounds coming from every corner of the island, you would be hard-pressed to find a better place to visit than the Dominican Republic, its a Home Run
