Chutki arrives all alone in the city of Mumbai in search of her mother.

Ek Chutki Aasman is a story of Chutki (Roshni Parekh) a 7-year-old girl, living in a small village near Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Chutki is a sunshine girl and as she walks into places, she brings smiles on peoples faces. Chutki is the daughter of Naresh and Hemangi (Chavvi Mittal).

As the story progresses little Chutkis life takes a huge turn around. Chutkis mami threatens to commit suicide if Chutki stays any longer in the house. Chutkis helpless mama, explains to Chutki that he will take her to meet her mother in Mumbai. Chutki happily agrees. However, mama leaves Chutki all alone in a train to Mumbai. Chutki reaches the big bad city of Mumbai all alone, not knowing where to go. She loses her Aayis (mothers) address and her luggage, which has her mothers photograph, at the station. However, she meets a good Samaritan in the form of a slum boy Gopal (7-8 yrs old) who not only saves her from being jailed for travelling ticketless but brings her to his home a pipe in a slum area of Mumbai. Gopal has an elder brother, Arjun(12-13 yrs). Arjun and Gopal are like chalk and cheese in nature.


Gopal is filmy, dramatic, talkative, a brag, believes that there are only short cuts in life and will do anything to earn a few bucks. Ideally, he is a rogue but a loveable rogue. Gopals elder brother Arjun on the other hand is a person of few words and leads a straightforward life, earns whatever little by honest means and loves his younger brother Gopal. He wants Gopal also to lead a straight life yet gives in to Gopals whims and fancies completely aware that in the bargain his younger brother is fooling him. Arjun is kind of person with a heart of gold. Initially Arjun objects to Chutki staying with them in the pipe but Gopal convinces him to let her stay and also help Chutki find her mother. So Chutkis life begin in the Mumbai slums, in the pipe house which Gopal calls Jannat (because Shah Rukh Khans house is called Mannat) The police are not of much help as Chutki is unable to provide any photograph or proper description of her mother. However, Chutkis mother Hemangi is unaware of her daughters dilemma as Chutkis mami forces her husband not to let out the truth. Therefore, whenever Hemangi calls up the village to speak to Chutki, mami always gives an excuse for Chutkis absence.

Ek Chutki Aasman is a story about love and longing of a young girl, for her mothers love. It is the story of young innocent Chutki and the journey, which will take her through the difficulties of life. Nevertheless, what remain integral is Chutkis innocence and her undying faith in all good things.
